Welcome to Hibeernian FC

Hibeernian was formed in
the summer of 2006 by users of the fans website "hibs.net"
A few of the users from
that site had the desire for a semi regular game of football,
nothing more than a kickabout in a park somewhere. The first
meeting was arranged for Musselburgh, but unfortunately a poor
turn out meant nothing could really be achieved. The next meet
up wasn't much better, this time at Meadow Park in Edinburgh.
Shortly after a few more get togethers were arranged and
thankfully the messages on the website had caught the attention
of some more potential players. After a few more weeks there
were around 12-16 willing bodies of all shapes and sizes turning
up for a kickabout.
One
of those first players had a contact connected to a fans team Livingston Golden
Shower. A friendly match was enthusiastically arranged and
within a few weeks the fledgling Hibeernian had played their
first game and recorded an impressive 3-3 draw with
Livi GS. Not bad for a bunch who had only met each other a few
weeks previously, had never played together, had no design or
game plan. It was agreed to have been a reasonable start and the
boys decided to look for another friendly. This time the
opponents were to be Morningside Victoria FC, a recently formed
team of guys who were former pupils of Boroughmuir High school.
The Beers recorded an impressive 7-1 victory.
From there some more
opposition teams came into the fold, players came and went and
today the squad pool is unrecognisable from its founding players.
The team have been instrumental in forming the Scottish
Supporters Mini League which has its own league cup competition,
and also the Scottish Champions League, a Nationwide tournament
that brings together 16 teams from 4 different friendly leagues
and replicates the UEFA Champions League that is watched
by millions.
The Beers recorded their
first league title in 2008, the SSML's 2nd season.
